Dr. Craig G. Stark, is a physician executive with 20+ years of clinical, operational and leadership experience specializing in international healthcare with a focus on telemedicine and health systems management in emerging markets.
Dr. Stark served as the Group Chief Medical Officer for the Abraaj Group, the leading private equity fund in emerging markets until its liquidation in 2019. While at Abraaj, he had oversight of the Evercare Health Fund, a one-billion-dollar impact fund focused on delivering accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to underserved markets across Africa and South Asia.
Dr. Stark oversaw medical operations, clinical governance, medical training, and quality assurance for 26 hospitals, 17 clinics, and 32 diagnostics centers across 20 cities in India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Nigeria. He had clinical operational responsibility for a 3,200-bed healthcare system employing over 10,000 employees and delivering almost 2 million episodes of care. While at the fund, he ensured the smooth merger of seven independent medical groups across four countries into a unified, integrated healthcare system. He also supported the operating specialists in the design, construction, go-to-market strategy, clinical service plan and equipment procurement for two new tertiary care medical facilities built in Pakistan and Nigeria and implemented a unified quality incident risk management system, standard clinical quality indicator measures, clinical decision support tools, hospital accreditation and clinical practice guidelines across all facilities.
In 2019, Dr. Stark was part of the transition team which led to the successful restructuring of the fund into the Evercare Group and subsequent acquisition by TPG Capital, a global investment firm headquartered in San Francisco, California and Fort Worth, Texas, with $96 billion in assets under management.
Prior to this, Dr. Stark spent 12 years with International SOS, a leading health and security services firm, serving as the Regional Medical Director based out of its London, Moscow, Singapore and Beijing offices. While at International SOS, he designed and led a project in Nepal setting up a system of integrated remote healthcare facilities for 30,000 retired Gurkhas and their families living in rural areas across Nepal. He also directly managed a team of 40+ medical professionals in five 24-hour Telemedicine Centers located in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei and Seoul that delivered care for more than 130,000 travel and emergency medicine cases each year. This also included oversight of ten international-standard primary and emergency care medical facilities in China (Beijing, Tianjin, Tianjin, TEDA, Nanjing, Shekou, Dalian, Hong Kong), Mongolia (Ulaanbaatar) and Far East Russia (Sakhalin) seeing more than 150,000 travelers and expatriates each year. The Chinese clinics were subsequently acquired by Raffles Medical Group to form the basis of their China expansion.
During his military medical career, Dr. Craig G. Stark, served as the NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Flight Surgeon and was in charge of the Internal Medicine and Aviation Medicine program at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Healthcare Facility in Belgium, the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Allied Command Operations. Prior to this, he served as the internist and flight surgeon for the Multinational Force and Observers in Egypt an international peacekeeping force overseeing the terms of the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.
He currently works with the leading telemedicine platforms across the United States and consults with international organizations looking to develop their own digital health services. Most recently, he completed a project serving as the Chief Medical Officer for Meridional Health, a digital health and logistics company delivering innovative healthcare solutions to underserved markets across Africa. Since 2019, he has also served as an Operating Partner for CedarBridge Capital, a Dubai based private equity firm focusing on investments in the healthcare, education and consumer goods sectors across the Middle East and Cyprus.
Dr. Stark received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and completed his Internal Medicine specialization at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is a board certified Diplomate in Internal Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and a Fellow of the International Society of Travel Medicine. Built on .NET and Azure the company under his leadership won the Best Independent Software Vendor Service Award at the coveted 2010 Software Industry Awards and at its height, ran a 6-person tech, ops and marketing team that sent over half a million emails daily. He engineered the business to run on auto-pilot using VB/C# .NET on Azure with AWS services and multiple ecommerce integrations and jQuery to the point that he currently does not have active daily involvement with it.

In this capacity, he successfully represented and defended Israel in its first Arbitration proceeding at the WTO.
As Senior Counsellor Legal & Economic Affairs, he ensured Israel's compliance with International Trade and Economic laws and regulations through training, evaluation, and developing processes and controls. He represented, defended, and advocated on behalf of Israel and its stakeholder’s interests in negotiations and executed Israel’s legal representation at the WTO and in 5 WTO dispute settlement proceedings as third party. He negotiated, concluded, and implemented the Trade Facilitation Agreement, with benefits of US$1 trillion a year and also negotiated and concluded WIPO’s Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin (AO) and Geographical Indications (GIs), setting a new framework for its global regulation.
In his capacity as the Legal Counsel & Trade Negotiator, he negotiated, concluded, and implemented the revised Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) – valued at US$100 billion per year. As the Legal Consultant at the Mission of Mexico to the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland, Director Rodolfo, represented Mexico in 4 WTO disputes – all with a successful outcome.
During his tenure as a Legal Staff at the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, he managed over 250 domain name disputes under strict deadlines, assigned over 3,000 cases to a multinational staff of 20 lawyers and supervised and trained multinational junior legal staff.

His conviction is focused on urging fellow health workers to borrow a leaf from them and reach out to the locals since he is certain this could save more lives based on his broad experience.

I have a Diplom in Mathematik from Freie Universität Berlin, and I also studied psychology, which gives me a unique perspective on human behavior and decision making.
With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, management consulting, and fundraising for start-ups and venture funds, I have developed a diverse set of skills and a strong network in the innovation and impact space. I have co-founded and invested in several start-ups, raised funds for startups and VCs from different countries and sectors, and worked on large-scale projects for physical asset management.
